ETHICS COMMITMENTS

Issue
Comments
Respect
I will treat all employees, students and citizens with respect,
as I would want to be treated.
Accountability
I will hold myself accountable to the same standards of
conduct and performance demanded of district employees and students.
Should I not meet these standards,
I will admit my mistakes and
strengthen my commitment to do better.
Should my conduct or performance compromise my ability to
effectively serve my constituents and fulfill the responsibilities
of my office, I will resign.
Respect for Law
I will oppose and speak against policies, practices or conduct
contrary to the spirit or letter of law, such as the board's
excessive use of closed meetings and the board's
practice of discouraging discussion during public input.
Open Government
I will uphold clean and honest government by aggressively
defending the voters' right to monitor and participate in
the activities of their government as declared in
our state's open records and open meetings laws.
Inclusiveness
In recognition that better information, new ideas and more understanding
lead to good decisions, I will solicit and consider the input
of all parties, including district taxpayers, employees and students.
