Statement regarding the denial of Request for Mandamus:This is disappointing. On March 11th, I requested emails related to the Triple P selection process, and the calendar of related meetings, but it appears that almost a month later, people will vote without getting to see that information. It's hard to force officials to follow the spirit of the law. The best remaining option is to elect candidates who respect the public's right to know.04/02/2010 Letter from Special Prosecutor Naze |
Statement on the Response of County Officials:County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer, Corporate Council Steve Rollins and County Board Chairman Jim Brey continue to repeat the lie that I filed with the district attorney one day after submitting my open records request. I submitted my original open records request on March 11, 2010, and I submitted the Request for Mandamus March 17, 2010. In addition, my request for intervention by the district attorney was because the county demanded that my requests must be submitted to individual county departments rather than to the county clerk. Mr. Ziegelbauer, Atty. Rollins and County Board Chairman Brey should know this, but they prefer to continue to mislead the public that I am making unreasonable demands on the speed of the county's response.
Regardless, the fact remains that the county's response has been poor.
For example, there is no reason that the
calendar of Triple P related meetings has not been released by now.
Although the special prosecutor did not choose to take legal action against
the county, it is astounding that
almost a full month after my original request, no information has been
released from the public works department, the department central to the
Triple P controversy.
All communications related to my open records requests, with the exception of Holiday House payroll records, are available here. |
